Meet Ken

Conservative. Liberty. West Michigan Values. These are not words describing a politician. These are words describing Ken Yonker. A community-oriented businessman who is ready to go to work for you in the world of politics.

Born and raised here. Generations of his family have lived and worked here. Ken grew up in the farming community of Caledonia. After graduating from South Christian High School he went to work in the mission field with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

One of the first in his family to attend college, Ken proudly graduated from Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Institute of Agricultural Technology.

After MSU, Ken was ready to get to work in the real world. He went to work in a management position for one of West Michigan’s largest and most respected construction companies. After five years he struck out on his own to form Yonker’s Landscaping, Inc.

Since then, Ken has earned a reputation in the landscaping business as a true professional and leader in the industry. He is proud to have taken a leadership role by serving on the local industry Board as trustee and president. He also served on the state Board of Directors and the legislative committee. He is currently an advocate for small business, a leader in local Republican politics and serves on the Caledonia School Board.

For over 23 years Ken has met payroll, served customers, and created jobs in Michigan, so Ken knows how government regulation and overbearing red-tape can strangle small business.

In 2002, the voters of Caledonia called on Ken to serve on the board for the gold medal winning, nationally recognized, Caledonia Public Schools. Because of his ability to make the tough decisions, his consensus-building experience and his passion for a strong public school system, the voters re-elected Ken with one of the largest election turnouts in Caledonia Schools.

Today, Ken is a candidate for State Representative. His firm, conservative principles along with real world experience make Ken the right person for the job. Ken doesn’t condone all the old political games being played in Lansing. He’s ready for a New Michigan.
